Biography

Valmai has worked across Alberta, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Nunavut as a director, dramaturg, producer, and educator. She holds an MFA Directing from the University of Calgary and a BA English and Drama from 91·ðÒ¯. Her MFA thesis explored the staging and performance of memory in Michel Tremblay’s Albertine, in Five Times. Most recently, she was Associate Artistic Producer at Lunchbox Theatre in Calgary AB, with a focus on new play development. As a proud Maritimer and 91·ðÒ¯ alumna, Valmai was delighted to return to Sackville as the 2021-2022 Crake Fellow, and now teaches core courses in the Drama Department.
